Ronald Baines brings multi-sport toughness and playmaking upside to Southern Illinois
Baines entered Southern Illinois as a defensive back priority walk-on and brings a physical, versatile profile that stands out beyond the box score. In his SIU bio, he is credited with 55 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, one interception, and a blocked field goal, plus eight rushing touchdowns as a high school running back, which points to a competitive, all-around athlete with instinct and urgency in space.[1][2] That kind of two-way background suggests a player who can add special-teams value and depth at corner if he continues to develop technically.
