Cannon Gibbs brings old-school linebacker edge and proven production
Cannon Gibbs is a sturdy, physical linebacker who built his reputation on production and disruption, finishing his East Carolina career with 93 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and an interception across 23 games, with 10 starts. He was also trusted as a team captain, which says plenty about his presence and football IQ. Gibbs’ best fit is a defense that values toughness, downhill urgency, and a steady communicator in the middle — the kind of player who may not flash every snap, but absolutely raises the floor.
