Recap
Texas dominated early and held off a late Rice rally to secure a 42-28 victory at home. The Longhorns exploded in the first quarter with three touchdowns, including Daje Johnson's electrifying 85-yard punt return and a 32-yard strike from Jerrod Heard to Armanti Foreman. Rice's Samuel Stewart sparked a second-quarter comeback with two rushing touchdowns, but Texas pulled away in the third with Malik Jefferson's 26-yard fumble return for a score, building an insurmountable 42-14 lead despite the Owls' late fourth-quarter push.
