Recap
West Virginia dominated Liberty 41-17 at Mountaineer Field, building a commanding 20-0 halftime lead behind quarterback Skyler Howard's efficient passing attack. Howard connected on three touchdown passes, including a 52-yarder to Shelton Gibson, while Wendell Smallwood punched in two rushing scores for the Mountaineers. Liberty briefly threatened in the fourth quarter with a 60-yard touchdown strike from Josh Woodrum to Zac Parker, but West Virginia's 12-play, 75-yard drive capped by Smallwood's second score sealed the victory.
