Recap
Texas Tech exploded for 69 points in a dominant home victory over UTEP, with Patrick Mahomes leading an unstoppable offense that scored on lightning-quick drives throughout the night. The Red Raiders jumped ahead early on Mahomes' 60-yard touchdown strike to Jakeem Grant and never looked back, with Mahomes accounting for five total touchdowns while DeAndre Washington added a spectacular 51-yard scoring run. UTEP's Aaron Jones provided a brief spark with a 91-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter, but the Red Raiders answered every challenge, rolling up points in bunches to secure the commanding win.
