Recap

The Sooners escaped Neyland Stadium with a hard-fought 33-27 victory over Tennessee, powered by kicker Tate Sandell's four field goals including two from 55 yards. Oklahoma's defense made a statement early with R Mason Thomas' 71-yard fumble return touchdown that shifted momentum in the first quarter. Volunteers quarterback Joey Aguilar connected with Braylon Staley for two touchdowns, but John Mateer's 1-yard touchdown run with 1:44 remaining sealed the win for Oklahoma.
