Recap

Illinois dominated Rutgers 35-13 at Gies Memorial Stadium behind Luke Altmyer's spectacular five-touchdown performance. The Fighting Illini quarterback threw four TD passes to different receivers and added a rushing score, turning a tight 7-6 contest into a runaway with 21 unanswered points before halftime. Rutgers managed just two field goals from Jai Patel until a late fourth-quarter touchdown by KJ Duff, but by then Illinois had built an insurmountable lead.
