East Carolina vs Old Dominion

The Pirates sailed into Norfolk and escaped with a hard-fought 20-17 victory over Old Dominion at Kornblau Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium. In a defensive slugfest that featured 190 plays of gritty football, East Carolina made just enough plays to steal one on the road in Sun Belt territory. Old Dominion battled until the final whistle, but the Monarchs couldn't quite find the extra score they needed to flip the script at home. The three-point margin tells the story of a game where every possession mattered and neither team gave an inch. East Carolina heads back to American Conference play with a gutsy road win, while the Monarchs will rue the missed opportunities in a contest that came down to the wire.
