Recap

The Purdue Boilermakers stormed into Champaign and left with a 24-17 Big Ten victory over the Fighting Illini at Gies Memorial Stadium. In a hard-fought conference clash that featured 167 plays of back-and-forth action, Purdue's offense found just enough rhythm to pull away from a resilient Illinois squad that fought until the final whistle. The Boilermakers' seven-point margin proved decisive in this Illinois–Purdue rivalry matchup, as they weathered every Fighting Illini challenge on the road. Illinois couldn't quite generate the late-game magic needed to complete the comeback, falling short despite a spirited effort in front of their home crowd. Purdue moves forward with a crucial conference road win.
