Recap
The Spartans held off a feisty Toledo squad 30-20 at Spartan Stadium, improving their record in what proved to be a tougher-than-expected battle. Michigan State built enough cushion to withstand the Rockets' challenges, though Toledo made them earn every point in a 167-play slugfest. The Big Ten hosts showed their mettle when it mattered most, pulling away down the stretch. Michigan State's defense came up clutch in key moments to preserve the victory, while the offense did just enough to keep the Rockets at arm's length. Toledo brought the fight and refused to go away quietly, but the Spartans' home-field advantage and superior depth ultimately made the difference. A solid non-conference win for Michigan State as they continue building momentum for Big Ten play.
