Recap
St. Thomas edged Southern Utah 28-26 in a thrilling back-and-forth battle at O'Shaughnessy Stadium. After the Thunderbirds' Parker Vance returned an interception 29 yards for a touchdown to give Southern Utah a 10-7 first-quarter lead, the Tommies responded with Gabriel Abel's explosive 78-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter to build a 28-17 advantage. The Thunderbirds made it a nail-biter when Will Burns connected with Mark Bails for an 18-yard touchdown with just 24 seconds remaining, but the two-point conversion attempt failed, preserving St. Thomas' two-point victory.
