Recap
Southern Illinois edged Samford 22-18 in a hard-fought Missouri Valley-Southern Conference showdown at Pete Hanna Stadium. The Salukis jumped ahead with a Jake Curry-to-Karsen Konkel touchdown and an early safety to lead 9-0, but Samford battled back as Gabarri Johnson connected twice with Cayden Aukerman, including a two-point conversion to tie it 15-15 in the third quarter. Lem Wash's 3-yard scoring run in the fourth gave Southern Illinois the lead for good, as the Bulldogs could only manage a late 42-yard Ty Ippolito field goal.
