Recap
The Commodores battled through a closer-than-expected contest at FirstBank Stadium, holding off Delaware 35-26 in Nashville. Vanderbilt built enough cushion to withstand a spirited push from the Fightin' Blue Hens, who refused to go quietly despite facing an SEC opponent. The 190-play thriller showcased Delaware's determination to compete with a power conference program, but the Commodores ultimately had too much firepower. Vanderbilt gets the win to start their season, though the nine-point margin suggests the Fightin' Blue Hens came ready to make a statement. A gutsy performance from Delaware, but the home team gets the victory.
