Recap
The Duke Blue Devils escaped Champaign with a hard-fought 31-27 victory over Illinois in a Big Ten-ACC showdown at Gies Memorial Stadium. In a back-and-forth battle that went down to the wire, Duke made just enough plays to hand the Fighting Illini a tough home loss. This one had all the intensity you'd expect from an intersectional clash, with 179 plays of physical football and neither team giving an inch. The Blue Devils executed when it mattered most, holding off a determined Illinois squad that fought until the final whistle. Duke heads back to ACC country with a signature road win, while the Fighting Illini are left wondering what might have been in this four-point heartbreaker.
