Recap

UConn's defense stifled UCLA in the second half of this East Region matchup, turning a competitive game into a rout. The Huskies built their largest lead at 16 points, fueled by a devastating 16-2 run that pushed them ahead 56-44. The Bruins mounted a brief comeback with a 10-2 run to cut it to four, but UConn responded with an 11-2 burst that effectively sealed the victory. UCLA's offense completely dried up, enduring a brutal 51-play scoring drought during the second period that proved fatal. UConn's suffocating defense was the difference-maker in this Second Round battle, holding the Bruins to just 57 points. Despite six ties and three lead changes keeping the game competitive early, the Huskies' ability to create extended scoring droughts proved insurmountable. UConn advances with a 73-57 victory, advancing deeper into the NCAA Tournament while UCLA's season ends short of the Sweet 16.
