Jhamal Shelby Jr. brings size, steady coverage, and disruptive ball skills to Louisiana Tech’s secondary
In the 2025 season, Jhamal Shelby Jr. emerged as a reliable Louisiana Tech defensive back with 20 tackles, 8 passes defended, and 1 interception, showing up consistently in coverage rather than as a pure turnover hunter.[1][3][11] His 6-foot-3 frame and EA Sports ratings point to the profile that stands out: strong acceleration, solid zone/man coverage, and above-average awareness for a DB, giving him a versatile, physical look in the secondary.[5][6] He looks like a fit for teams that value length, instincts, and weekly consistency over splashy stat lines.[1][5][11]
