Syracuse’s young DB still in the “show-me” phase
In the 2025 season, Lucas Vermeulen was a fresh-faced Syracuse defensive back who appeared in one game and did not record a tackle, so the story here is upside, not résumé. He brings local-rooted energy from Beacon, N.Y., and at 6-foot, 175 pounds he fits the lean, coverage-oriented DB mold, but there isn’t yet public stat evidence of production. If you want a developmental depth piece with room to grow, he’s intriguing; if you need an instant-impact playmaker, the tape and numbers haven’t gotten there yet.
