From UTEP Player to Air Force Academy Safeties Coach
Mookie Carlile has transitioned from his playing days at UTEP and Tarleton State into coaching, currently serving as Safeties Coach at the Air Force Academy (entering his third season as of 2026). The 6-1, 180-pound defensive back was a two-time Conference USA Academic All-Conference honoree, demonstrating both on-field versatility and academic excellence. Known for his closing speed, playmaking ability, and frame (all rated 6/7 in recruiting), Carlile brings credibility as a coach who understands defensive back development—he's helped develop notable safeties at Air Force including Levi Brown, Kyle Chen, and Houston Hendrix. His combination of playing experience, coaching acumen, and commitment to player development makes him a valuable asset for defensive secondary programs.
