Ball-hawk CB who made Texas Tech’s secondary more disruptive in 2025
J.J. Gaines is a senior Texas Tech cornerback who turned in a playmaking season in 2025, starting 10 games and producing 63 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, two interceptions, four pass breakups, and a fumble recovery[1]. The profile here is versatility and aggression: he’s active against the run, willing to tackle, and has enough ball skills to finish plays when quarterbacks test him[1]. If you want a defender who brings proven production, competitiveness, and a physical edge rather than just cover-only flash, he’s a strong fit[1].
