Avery James brings veteran safety savvy and special-teams toughness to Liberty
Avery James is a 6-foot, 180-pound safety from Duncan, South Carolina, and Liberty lists him as a sophomore on its football roster[1][9]. He’s a smart, physical defensive back whose résumé includes starting 13 of 14 games as a true freshman and finishing with 19 tackles and an interception, which points to early trust, quick processing, and reliable back-end range[4]. That kind of early-game experience matters: he looks like a fit for a team that values disciplined coverage, hard contact, and players who can grow into bigger roles without needing hand-holding.
