Je Ryan Butler was an electric South Dakota State defensive back and return threat
Je Ryan Butler’s impact at South Dakota State came more from juice than box-score fluff: in the 2013 season he earned Missouri Valley Football Conference all-conference honors as a return specialist, and SDSU’s 2024 notes still list him among the program’s standout all-time special-teams names[13][7]. He brought playmaking, speed, and edge—highlighted by a 10-interception senior season in high school and a 2013 punt-return touchdown burst that made him the kind of DB coaches love for field position and momentum swings[2][3].
