Watkins brings a downhill, high-IQ linebacker profile to Rice
Chandler Watkins looks like a classic fit-at-LB prospect: he arrived at Rice after a senior season with 109 tackles and an interception, plus team MVP and academic all-state honors, which points to both production and reliability. His value is in the combination of volume tackling, inside-linebacker instincts, and the kind of steady, coachable profile teams like in the middle of a defense. The main question is projection at the college level, but his résumé suggests toughness, consistency, and a strong football background.
