veteran UH linebacker who brought heat, havoc, and leadership
In the 2015 season, Julian Gener was one of Hawaii’s defensive tone-setters, finishing with team highs of 95 tackles and 62 solo tackles while adding 13.0 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, an interception, and two forced fumbles. He was especially disruptive down the stretch, including a 5.0-TFL game against Fresno State and a 19-tackle outing versus San Diego State. The big differentiator: he combined instinct, physicality, and a knack for making plays behind the line, and he also served as a respected senior voice for the Rainbow Warriors. Before that, he overcame an ACL injury that derailed his 2013 season, which makes his production and toughness stand out even more.
