Recap

North Texas held off a furious San Diego State rally to escape with a thrilling 49-47 victory in Albuquerque. The Mean Green built a commanding 42-20 lead behind Drew Mestemaker's three touchdown passes and Caleb Hawkins' two rushing scores, but the Aztecs stormed back with 27 unanswered points, including a 63-yard punt return by Nathan Acevedo and a final touchdown with one second left. North Texas answered San Diego State's surge with a crucial 31-yard Mestemaker-to-Cameron Dorner connection to seal the wild shootout.
