Recap

Oklahoma dominated Illinois State 35-3 in a lopsided season opener as quarterback John Mateer dazzled with three touchdown passes and a rushing score. Keontez Lewis hauled in two fourth-quarter touchdown catches, giving the Sooners a commanding presence through the air. The Redbirds' offense struggled to find any rhythm, managing just a single field goal in the third quarter while the Sooners built an insurmountable lead.
