Recap

St. John's absolutely dominated UNI in this First Round NCAA Tournament matchup, controlling the game from start to finish. The Red Storm stormed out of the gates with a devastating 16-2 run to seize early control, then put the game away with a 9-2 surge that pushed their lead to 42-22. St. John's' defense was suffocating throughout, holding UNI to just 53 points while building a commanding 26-point advantage. The Panthers never found their rhythm, suffering through a brutal 33-play scoring drought in the second half as St. John's extended their lead relentlessly. The Red Storm's 10-0 run late in the second period (65-50 to 75-50) sealed the outcome, and clutch baskets from Dillon Mitchell and Ian Jackson down the stretch capped off the dominant 79-53 victory. St. John's advanced as the No. 5 seed with an authoritative performance befitting their seeding.
