Recap

UCLA Dominates South Carolina to Claim National Championship UCLA is National Champion! The Bruins dismantled South Carolina with a suffocating defensive performance, winning 79-51 at the Mortgage Matchup Center. Despite entering as 3.5-point underdogs, the No. 1 seed Bruins controlled the game from the opening tip, leading 36-23 at halftime. UCLA's dominance only intensified in the second half, unleashing a devastating 13-2 run that stretched their lead to commanding proportions. The Gamecocks simply couldn't find their rhythm, plagued by offensive droughts including a brutal 7-possession stretch in the third quarter that allowed UCLA to pull away. The Bruins' relentless defense was suffocating all night, forcing South Carolina into uncomfortable possessions and stalling any comeback attempt. UCLA's largest advantage ballooned to 35 points—an absolute statement in a championship game. There was no drama, no late-game heroics needed: just pure, dominant basketball from start to finish. The Bruins' first national title in program history is official.
