Southern Miss’ veteran line anchor is out for 2026
Broderick Roman was projected to be Southern Miss’s right guard anchor in 2026 after starting all 13 games in 2025, but he medically retired in August 2026 because of recurring stingers, a serious setback for a veteran who had been the lone returning offensive line starter and a preseason All-Sun Belt pick. His value was never just size—at 6-foot-3, 301 pounds, he brought rare experience, toughness, and leadership to a rebuilt line, making him the kind of player coaches love and defenses notice when he’s healthy.
